More than a workshop, this is a creative escape filled with discovery, connection, and the joy of making.

Summer at the Cottage

Summer at the cottage is a quintessential Canadian experience, signifying an escape from everyday life to relax, play, reconnect with nature and bond with friends and family.

Every cottage tells a story. This one begins with yours.

Take your creation home

Build it your way

The cottage of your childhood dream? A fairytale cottage? A grand mansion? Something solid or perhaps whimsical is more your style… let your imagination run wild.

From start to finish — you'll go home with your own unique creation.

No two creations are alike

Uniquely you

There are multiple patterns to choose from: some for absolute beginners and some more challenging designs for novices with some experience. There are hundreds of colours and textures of glass to choose from to build the funkiest cottage imaginable. Let your imagination run riot. The possibilities are nearly endless.

There’s plenty of scope with wire-work and tumbled glass to add embellishments to make your cottage uniquely yours.

Experience needed

Beginner friendly

No prior experience required. We’ll take you through the process of pattern selection, glass choice, safely cutting and grinding your pieces, foiling, soldering and applying patina to finish your work. And when we're done, we'll celebrate your handiwork with you.

Discover your creative self

Be inspired

The studio vibe is a unique experience — you cannot help but be inspired by the hundreds of creative works on display. The history of the century-old stone-and-mortar grist mill we call home reminds us of the pioneers who came before us, sets the tone and gives us grace to create.

The break you didn't know you needed

Your creative space

A well-equipped studio, with generous workbenches and refreshments on tap coupled with fun, stress-free instruction and the company of fellow creatives makes for a joyful creative journey.

Ease into your experience

A good start

The studio opens at least 30 minutes before starting time. Please arrive a little early to settle in, help yourself to some refreshments and choose your pattern before the workshop starts.

Late arrivals disrupt the rest of the class, and it may not be possible for the instructor to help you catch up.

Body & Soul

Lunch & logistics

Refreshments available throughout the day.

We'll take a 30 minute lunch break — bring a packed lunch to enjoy in our historic studio, or step outside and enjoy a picnic under the trees in Mill Square immediately opposite the studio.

If you'd prefer sampling something local, we recommend Sunshine on Maine mere steps away. The North Glengarry, downstairs offers an extensive menu. Consider placing your order before your class starts.
