Gain the confidence to draw what you see in this fun low-pressure introduction to drawing workshop with sought-after art-educator, Crystal Beshara. Step into the artist’s world of observation and creativity!
What you will learn
This fun, low-pressure introduction to drawing one-day workshop is dedicated to teaching you the fundamentals of drawing: how to truly see shape, light, and shadow, the core ingredients of any successful drawing. Crystal will demystify fundamental concepts like:
- Creating a full range of values,
- Using directional shading to build form, and
- Developing expressive line quality.
You’ll complete the day’s learning by drawing a simple still life — a pear symbolising the abundance of creativity in each of us — incorporating the techniques learned throughout the workshop.
Experience required
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners who’ll get to grip with the fundamentals and create their first pencil drawing. It is also suitable for novices wanting a back-to basics refresher and further develop their pencil drawing skills and technique.

About Crystal Beshara
Crystal is an international award-winning contemporary realist painter and sought-after educator. A self-taught realist, she spent her rural childhood observing and drawing the natural world around her. Crystal shifts easily between mediums — watercolour, gouache and oil — focusing on realism juxtaposed with expressive, gestural brushstrokes.
Her popular creative workshops are well structured and geared towards developing participant’s skills. Benefit from Crystal's more than 25 years’ teaching experience in this workshop.
Good to know
Please arrive a little early, settle in and help yourself to some refreshments. Late arrivals disrupt the rest of the class, and it may not be possible for the instructor to help you catch up.
