Whispers on the Wind
A beginner-friendly stained glass suncatcher workshop
Feathers hold stories
What is yours?
Across cultures and time, feathers carry powerful symbolic meaning, sometimes mythical, sometimes mystical. Feathers
have symbolised courage, freedom, wisdom, protection, hope, remembrance and transformation. Often they're enigmatic reminders of our connection to nature.
Whether your feather reflects a personal story, a cherished memory or simply colours that bring you joy, your piece becomes uniquely yours.
What do feathers mean to you?
Take your creation home
What will you make?
A fiery red phoenix feather? A scorched feather reminding you of Icarus’ audacity? A shimmering angel’s feather? Or a magnificently colourful plume reminding you of a bird-of-paradise?
A bit of magic for yourself, a gift or perhaps a work of remembrance? What will you make?
From start to finish — you'll go home with your own unique creation.
No two creations are alike
Uniquely you
There are multiple patterns to choose from: each with seven or more pieces of glass and more than 340 glass colours and textures to choose from. That’s more than 108 octillion combinations — let your imagination run wild — the possibilities are nearly endless.
Experience needed
Beginner friendly
No prior experience required. We’ll take you through the process of pattern selection, glass choice, safely cutting and grinding your pieces, foiling, soldering and applying patina to finish your work. And when we're done, we'll celebrate your handiwork with you.
If you already know the basics, you can choose to create a more complex feather — or we'll challenge you to try out some more advanced embellishments.
Challenging & rewarding
Every step…
This is a well-structured workshop with step-by-step instruction, ample demonstrations and practice. A touch of theory — presented in an accessible way — to help you understand the technicalities.
We'll guide you through every step and celebrate your finished piece with you at the end of the workshop. And if you need a bit of extra support, we'll be there to guide you.
Discover your creative self
Be inspired
The studio vibe is a unique experience — you cannot help but be inspired by the hundreds of creative works on display. The history of the century-old stone-and-mortar grist mill we call home reminds us of the pioneers who came before us and sets the tone and gives us grace to create.
